Feasibility Study
The proposal was to create an outdoor teaching area for inner city kids. It was inspired by the idea of a “secret garden”. A walled garden space was proposed with centred around a fire pit. A covered area for potting and a buggy store was created so that the outdoor space could be used in any weather. The space was on the site of an old Victorian school and the space that was once used as toilets were converted into an outdoor teaching space in the proposal.
Close attention was paid to sustainability. The types of plants and wildlife to be attracted was carefully considered. bird boxes, beehives, water collection and green roofs were all included in the proposal.
