SOUTHGATE ROAD 02

Southgate Rd already had planning permission for an enlarged box at the rear of the

property converting a bedroom into a kitchen dining room opening up to the garden. We analysed

the space and how we could bring joy into the project. The project was done in two phases

with the bathrooms completed in 2018 and the second phase completed in 2022.

A connection was made between the front and back of the house allowing light to flow all the way

through the building. The garden was treated as an extension of the dining/ kitchen area and was

terraced to include built in seating areas and cooking facilities. The kitchen was flipped to allow

better movement through the space and the roof-light enlarged to create a wash of light along the

back of the extension.
